Software Developer focuses on design, program, configure and implement software in plc systems to automate industrial systems to meet operational needs.

What the role involves

• Design, program, configure and implement software in PLC systems to automate industrial systems to meet operational needs.
• Test, and validate control logic to ensure performance standards are achieved.
• Analysing and optimize existing control logic to improve efficiency, accuracy, and system reliability.
• Troubleshoot system malfunctions, identifying and implementing corrective actions to minimize downtime.
• Maintain version control, and implement safety interlocks to safeguard against system failures.
• Create comprehensive documentation, including wiring diagrams, ladder.

Skills and requirements

• Degree qualified in electronic engineering, software engineering or related discipline – or equivalent experience.
• A minimum of 5 years’ experience within Tier 1 or OEM sectors (on highway or off highway) within system engineering or software development.
• Ability to design and implement complex control architectures involving multiple PLCs, sensors, and actuators.
• Knowledge of industry standards, such as IEC 61131-3, for PLC programming.
