Payroll & AP Specialist focuses on processing full-cycle payroll on a regular basis (weekly/bi-weekly), ensuring accuracy and compliance with applicable legislation.
What the role involves
- Processing full-cycle payroll on a regular basis (weekly/bi-weekly), ensuring accuracy and compliance with applicable legislation.
- Preparing and issue Records of Employment (ROEs) and year-end tax forms (e.g., T4s).
- Processing high-volume invoices, ensuring proper coding, approvals, and timely entry into the accounting system.
- Preparing and execute payment runs (cheques, EFTs, wire transfers).
- Assisting with month-end closing activities, including accruals and account reconciliations.
Skills and requirements
- Support audits by providing required documentation and reports.
- Post-secondary education in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- 3+ years of experience in payroll and/or accounts payable roles.
- Strong knowledge of Canadian payroll regulations and employment standards.
Candidate fit
- Accuracy, confidentiality, deadline discipline, and careful handling of employee information.
Additional role context
- Update employee payroll records, including new hires, terminations, and compensation changes.
- Administer payroll deductions, benefits, and remittances (e.g., taxes, pensions, and other statutory requirements).
