Machine Safety Engineer focuses on conduct risk analyses of equipment and machinery in various industrial environments.

What the role involves

  • Conduct risk analyses of equipment and machinery in various industrial environments.
  • Preparing detailed technical reports on the results of risk analyses and the solutions to be implemented.
  • Develop recommendations to improve machine safety in accordance with applicable standards (CSA, ISO, OSHA, etc.).
  • Test, and implement machine safety systems (safety controllers and relays, guardrails, interlock systems, safety sensors, etc.).
  • Preparing specifications, drawings, and cost estimates.
  • Stay up to date on regulatory and technological developments related to machine safety.

Skills and requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical, mechanical, or a related engineering field.
  • 3 to 5 years of experience in machine safety or industrial automation.
  • Machine safety certification (CMSE or equivalent) as an asset.
  • Experience with programmable logic controllers (PLCs) and safety systems.
