Apprentice Heavy Duty Truck Technician focuses on repair or replace defective parts, components or systems.

What the role involves

  • Repair or replace defective parts, components or systems.
  • Install new or replacement parts according to specifications.
  • Test repaired equipment for proper performance and to ensure that the work done meets manufacturers’ specification and legislated regulations.
  • Assure completion of all repairs, maintenance requirements and/or modifications to the truck or other assigned vehicle.
  • Stay abreast of technology and attend training as it becomes available.

Skills and requirements

  • Relevant technical, electrical, mechanical, maintenance, gas, plumbing, or engineering experience may be required.

Candidate fit

  • A High school diploma.
  • A Heavy Equipment Technician Apprenticeship Certification with Heavy Truck experience.
  • Minimum 1 year training in a Heavy Duty Truck fleet or shop environment.
